Biosecurity and Environment
Description
The Biosafety Task Force was set up in 2015 by the AFC and aims to share experiences and draft common recommendations for good working practices in flow cytometry. Biosecurity is the set of measures aimed at preventing and countering the risks associated with the use of biological materials. In the case of flow cytometry, it is therefore a question of defining all the measures necessary to prevent the risks of contamination of personnel and the environment.

Les comptes-rendus
After having and drafting recommendations for sorting by flow cytometry (link to the 2017 poster in attachement) and the analysis and sorting of COVI-19 positive or not positive primary human samples (link to the recommendations in attachement), the group AFC Biosecurity proposes today to address the topic of liquid waste generated by cytometers. The idea is to take stock of the situation in order to draft recommendations for their handling, neutralization and disposal, with a view to safety but also to protecting the environment.
The AFC’s biosafety group also contributed to the writing of chapter 29 “Biosafety and flow cytometry” of the book “Flow cytometry” 2nd edition, Lavoisier edition, published in 2020 Flow cytometry (lavoisier.fr ).

Following the work of the group on aerosols generated by sorters, the AFC in partnership with the CYBIO platform of the Cochin Institute.
